Our cookery courses take place in the small village of Ornaro where the local ladies will share their skills, techniques and family recipes that have been passed down through the generations. Gather round the farmhouse table and learn how to make pasta, gnocchi, bread, meat dishes, many vegetable dishes and of course some biscuits and desserts. The morning classes are hands-on classes in local homes and given in Italian, translated by our guide and include trips to the market to choose the best produce. Afterwards we will enjoy the lunch you have prepared together with some of the lovely local wines.
The afternoons are spent visiting Rome, The Cascata delle Marmore, Europe’s tallest waterfalls; Villa d’Este a UNESCO world heritage site, with its impressive water gardens, a model for the mannerist and baroque style gardens of Europe and the beautifully preserved ruins of Ostia Antica, the harbour city of ancient Rome that sprawls over 10,000 acres.
Each evening you’ll dine in a variety of local restaurants and then the driver will return you to your hotel or the farmhouse to relax after the busy day.
There will also be time for shopping during our visit to Rome and also in nearby Rieti - the centre of Italy.
